Techniques

At thespencepractice we use a mix of methods and techniques; we integrate these therapy techniques into a solution-focused approach which helps you to achieve the changes that you desire. Some of the most commonly used are:

Hypnotherapy

During a hypnotherapy session, the therapist will use his or her voice to create a deep state of relaxation known as hypnosis. During this state of deep relaxation your subconscious mind has full attention on the suggestions and questions being put to it. However, you are able to resist suggestions which are not acceptable to you, so you can’t be made to do things against your will.

As the subconscious mind is responsible for your habits and behaviours, whether they be positive or negative, and stores memories and emotions, it makes sense that this is the part of the mind that needs to re-learn or be re-programmed if you want to change a behaviour permanently.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a meridian based therapy which utilises acupressure points on the body whilst repeating affirmations to neutralise negative emotions. It is much easier to demonstrate this technique than it is to explain it. However it is very effective for releasing negative emotions.

RELIEVE IBS

IBS is a disorder within the digestive system which can be very uncomfortable and painful.

A change in environment and/or reduction in stress has been shown to have a significant impact on IBS symptoms.
